Whether you're troubleshooting a network issue or checking your VPN, here's how to quickly find your IP address on any iPhone or iPad.
The Easiest Way: Visit CheckWhatIsMyIP
Open Safari on your iPhone and go to CheckWhatIsMyIP.com. Your public IP address, location, and ISP will be displayed instantly. Works on all iPhones â no app needed.
Method 1: Find Your Private IP via Settings
Your private (WiFi) IP address is found in Settings:
- Open Settings
- Tap Wi-Fi
- Tap the âšī¸ (info button) next to your connected network
- Scroll to the IPv4 Address section
- Your IP address is listed (e.g., 192.168.1.5)
This is your local/private IP â it's only visible within your WiFi network. Websites and online services cannot see this address.
Method 2: Find Your Public IP
Your public IP is what websites see. To find it:
- Open Safari
- Go to checkwhatismyip.com
- Your public IP is displayed at the top of the page along with your location and ISP
Alternatively, you can search "what is my ip" in Google â it shows your public IP right in the search results.
WiFi IP vs. Cellular IP
Your iPhone uses different IPs depending on your connection:
- WiFi: Your router assigns a private IP. Your public IP comes from your home ISP.
- Cellular: Your carrier (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile) assigns an IP. This changes frequently and is often shared (CGNAT).
Toggle Airplane Mode on and off to get a new cellular IP. Switch between WiFi and cellular to get a completely different public IP.
How to Find Your iPhone's MAC Address
While not an IP, your MAC address is another network identifier:
- Go to Settings â General â About
- Look for Wi-Fi Address â that's your MAC address
Note: iOS uses private/randomized MAC addresses by default for privacy.
Check Your VPN on iPhone
If you're using a VPN on your iPhone, verify it's working by visiting our VPN Leak Test. If your real IP shows up alongside your VPN IP, you have a WebRTC leak.
